New Campus UNIMI

The challenge

To realize a new Campus of the State University of Milan within the MIND innovation district represents one of the most important urban and cultural regeneration operations in the city.

The goal of the project is to bring together the University’s scientific and educational expertise in a single location, creating an integrated, multifunctional environment that fosters interaction among students, researchers, institutions and businesses.

On a total area of more than 210,000 square meters, the new campus will accommodate more than 23,000 people, offering spaces dedicated to education, research, residency and community life, in line with the most internationally advanced university campus models.

The challenge is to combine innovation, sustainability and architectural quality, resulting in an open and dynamic place capable of reinterpreting the Milanese university tradition and fitting harmoniously into the urban fabric of MIND.

Impact

The new State University Campus in MIND will represent a pole of excellence for research and scientific education, capable of attracting talent and fostering collaboration between universities, businesses and innovation centers.

The initiative will help strengthen Milan's role as a European capital of knowledge and innovation, generating a positive impact on the area in terms of economic, employment and environmental development.

The project also aims to achieve the LEED Gold certification, thanks to energy-efficient architectural and plant solutions, the use of renewable sources and a system of electric indoor mobility, with estimated energy savings of more than 24% compared to standard buildings.
